"When you have seen one ant, one bird, one tree, you have not seen them all."

Edward O. Wilson

Thats how I feel about pizza. It is something like 8 pizzas later and its time to move on and even though we have hardly scratched the pizza surface we were all over that crust, buahahahaha. I blind baked a few with just a little olive oil and/or garlic, rosemary, or a dab of marinara to fashion into pizzas another time when we are not so burnt out on them. The one you see here is white eggplant, truffle oil, chevre, mozzarella and garlic. A year ago we were doing this, and I'll tell ya some truffled egg toast sounds good right about now.

What? No fig pizza??? You must, you must!

Anyway, the pizza looks yum yum.

do you have a spacial oven for those pizza's? cause they look so stone oven baked! And heavenly of course!

Christo Gonzales said...

michelle ann: figs were affordable a couple weeks ago but now they have more than doubled in price while the quality went down...

anette: they are cooked on a stone that rests on a rack in the oven, I let it get super hot before I start.

your pizza looks amazing..I have a friend that does them outside on her grill, my fav is with pesto instead of red sauce, roasted garlic, shrimp, chevrie & mushrooms.

beth- what can we name him? let's do a name the chef contest, let me think too bad naked chef is already taken. Doggy chef doesn't do much for me.

Pizza is one of my favorite foods! Those look awesome! I'd like to see you on tv- one vote!

I'm not much of a fan of pizza, myself, but the rest of the crowd is. I make them do most of the work, after I make the crust.

I was planning on a pizza for dinner but later ruled out after seeing this I guess I start preparing...

Glad to know that you wanted to buzz me over Foodbuzz ;)

name the chef ... good idea!

A version of the Count of Monte Cristo? Count Cristo?

We're just brainstorming now, right?

snugs: oooh on the grill sounds so good, I did a pesto one but didnt take a picture...

starrlife: pizza is so good, we dont make it often but we eat it regularly

marjie: with your crew I think anytime you can offer 'hands on' food it lightens the load.

Ramya Vijaykumar: you can still have pizza, the dough only needs to really rise once and its ready in an hour...

joy: those are good suggestions but a monte cristo is a sandwich

blonde duck: I saw peanut butter and jelly pizza on tv the other day

pinknest: makes a crispy crust - if you like that sort of thing...

Omigawd! Those look delicious. I'm drooling as I type. How is it that I've never bookmarked your blog before? I'm rectifying the situation immediately.

You just reminded me I have a pizza stone! Now I need NYC water...

Christo Gonzales said...

ell: where did you come from, pull up a chair, grab a bevvy

buff: I can send you a ziploc of dehydrated and you can reconstitute it yourself, that might work.

Joy said...

I do know it's a sandwich - a FRIED sandwich at that. Doesn't sound appealing, but you do.

I never get tired of pizza.

Im going to try some of that sauce this weekend and make a pizza. That crust should feed my carb addiction.

I like this combination--did you do anything special to the eggplant beforehand?

I'm interested in continuing my sourdough kick with a pizza--the loose dough lends itself to a thin, cripsy crust--but am still undecided as to toppings.

I found you through a link on Joy's site. I'm one of her "followers". :-D

Christo Gonzales said...

joy: that makes me feel so warm and bubbly

emiline: I dont think we are as tired of the pizza as we are tired of trying to come up with new varieties

michelle: nothing beats homemade carbs

tavolini: it was battered and fried first, it seems like the sourdough would enhance sweeter flavors and seafood...

ell: that was a rhetorical question but I am glad you answered it anyway...you are welcome here anytime.

that looks beyond divine; any interest in sharing your crust recipe? I haven't gotten mine right yet, and yours looks PERFECT.

Christo Gonzales said...

shiv: no problem - I posted it in a comment when I first put up the pizzas but anyway here it is again: 4 cups flour, two tablespoons dry yeast, half teaspoon salt, two tablespoons of honey, one fourth of a cup of olive oil, and a cup or so of warm water. Mix a couple tablespoons of warm water, yeast and honey so the yeast can bloom, after several minutes mix in the other ingredients, too wet add more flour to dry add more water. Let rise until double, punch down let rise again then its ready.

I feel exactly the same way. There could not be enough hungry moments in my life to taste all of the wonderful pizza combos out there. Making pizza at home is so so wonderful - isn't it?
